Freeda Nicholson Obituary

Freeda Marie Nicholson, 92, of Connellsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 11, 2021 at the home she shared with her family, Jason, Rhonda, Felicity, and Brendan Phillips.

She was born on November 1, 1928 in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Edward C. and Ida M. (Johnson) Nicholson. Freeda was baptized at the Church of Christ in Vanderbilt in 2013 and regularly attended Logos at the Mt. Pleasant Community Christian Church.

When Freeda was saved, she took great pride in spreading the gospel and her relationship with Jesus. She loved all of God’s people and creatures. Dogs were her favorite, especially her dog, Daisy.

She loved the color pink.

Freeda was born 7th in a family with 21 children. Growing up on the Springfield Pike, she would share stories of her pig, goat, the washboard at the creek, the outhouse, and the Rockridge School with anyone who would listen.

In the 80’s, you would always find Freeda cooking. She loved food and loved to feed others. If she wasn’t cooking, you could find her at the care n’ share or the next to new shop. She spent a lot of time with the Kozel family whom she adored and talked about up until God called her home.

Freeda loved all her of her siblings, but more than anyone, she loved her mother. For 49 years, Freeda told stories about how wonderful her mother was and that she couldn’t wait to see her again.

Even though Freeda had never given birth, she was a mother to so many. She loved kids and treated them as if they were her own.

In addition to her Phillips Family, Freeda is survived by her brother, Robert “Bob” Nicholson; sisters, Betty Heisterman and Beatrice Roadman (Bob); special nieces, Bonita Wettgen and Tiffany Gallentine and their families, and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Freeda was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, John, Harold, Bud, Donald, Melvin, Willard, Tom, and Charles and her sisters, Baby Ida, Bess, Ruby, Alice, Verna, Dorothy, Leona, and Bonnie.

Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Monday from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm and on Tuesday from 9am until the hour of the funeral service at 11amwith Pastor Rich Schimansky officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery
