Violet M. (Owade) Check, 86, of Leisenring, passed away peacefully with no more pain and suffering into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday September 12, 2022 at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital surrounded by her beloved children.
She was born December 20, 1935 in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Paul and Martha (Urosek) Owade.
She was a graduate from Dunbar Township High School in the Class of 1953.
She was a member of the former St. Vincent de Paul R.C. Church, Leisenring, where she served as a Christian Mother until its’ closure. After St. Vincent closed, Violet became a member of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville.
Violet was known as homemaker and a caregiver to not only her family whom she loved dearly, but to her neighbors as well. She always made sure her neighbors had their breakfast, lunch, and dinner, sometimes even having her kids deliver the meals to them for her. She even took the time to help clean their houses.
Violet enjoyed spending her time cooking and baking for herself and for others and always made sure to have a cooking show playing on TV. She was also an avid baseball fan, always making sure to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Steelers. Especially when she was watching the Pirates, she would call her son Ernie and tell him “The game’s on!” When she wasn’t watching her cooking shows, or sports, she always made sure to have on Lifetime. She also enjoyed checking in with her Google Home, where she would say so cute, “Hey Google!”
She was someone who always made sure everyone else was taken care of. Throughout her later years in life, Violet required more assistance in her daily life, and her daughter Stephanie, whom she lived with, made sure to take the best care of her.
Violet took immaculate care of her house and made sure everything was always spotless. She made sure to never have a thing out of place.
She loved animals, specifically her beloved furbabies and companions, Snuggles, Honey, and Fresca.
Her family always looked forward to hearing her adorable chuckle and laugh which were contagious.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her life and her pride and joy.
Violet was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who were blessed to know her.
Violet is survived by her children, Ernest Check and wife Karen (Fetsco) of Juniata, Stephanie Check of Leisenring, Francis Check and wife Kimberly of Juniata, and Lori OBlack and husband Matt (who she was so grateful for) of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Travis and Adam; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Olivia, Brooke, Addison, TJ and Teegan; step-grandsons, Brandon Bellacima and Cody Bellacima; step-granddaughter, Krista OBlack-Garland and husband Justin; step-great-grandsons, Dominic and Brayden; sister, Sylvia Golden of Dunbar; brother, Donnie Owade of VA; goddaughter, Lisa Brooks; godson, Johnny Owade; her beloved furbaby, Fresca; her grand-dog, Bella and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen E. Check Jr. in 1992; sister, Marcella Wilburn; brother, John Owade; her furbabies, Snuggles and Honey; her grand-dog, Samson and her feathered-friend, Jakey-Bird.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Thursday from 1pm – 9pm and on Friday from 11am until 12:30pm when Prayers of Transfer will be held.
