Salvatore Anthony ‘Sal’ Talone, 91, of South Connellsville, passed away peacefully on Friday May 23, 2025 at the VA Medical Center, Pittsburgh.
He was born October 14, 1933 in Connellsville, the son of the late Salvatore Edward and Parmie (Payne) Talone.
He graduated from the Connellsville Coker High School in the Class of 1951.
He was a lifelong member of St. Rita’s R.C. Church, Connellsville.
Sal enlisted into the United States Army where he served in Germany until he was honorably discharged from his service in 1962.
For most of his life, Sal was employed as a meat manager for Foodland and then Warehouse Groceries from which he retired from after 50 years.
He was a member of the VFW Post #21 and the AMVETS Post #103.
Sal was known as a simple man and he was someone who would help and be there for anyone. He loved gardening and fishing when he was able to. He adored his grandchildren, having attended all their extracurricular activities throughout the years, which he never missed.
Sal is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary (Ratai) Talone; his daughter, Stephanie Flynn and husband Scott of S. Connellsville; his grandchildren, Collyn and Megan Flynn of S. Connellsville; sister, Mary Grace Grubach of Connellsville; sisters-in-law, Diane Ratai of Connellsville, Beatrice Lepre of DE, and Nancy Wade of Connellsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sal was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Todd ; his brother, Gregory P. Talone;and brothers-in-law, Joseph Ratai, John Ratai; Edward Grubach and Larry Wade.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Tuesday from 2pm – 8pm and on Wednesday from 8am until 9:30am when Prayers of Transfer will be held. The Funeral Mass will follow at St. Rita’s R.C. Church, Connellsville at 10am.
Committal Service will follow at St. Rita’s R.C. Cemetery Chapel, with the Amvets General George C. Marshall Post #103 presenting full Military Honors.
Interment will be held privately at a later date.
