Robert 'BA' Allen Laugherty

 Robert Allen ‘BA’ Laugherty, 71, of Connellsville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday January 16, 2026, at home.

He was born January 28, 1954, in Pittsburgh, a son of Mary Ellen (Hunt) Groff and the late Jesse Laugherty

He graduated from Connellsville High School in the Class of 1971 and continued to serve his Country for 4 years in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge.

For 37 years until his retirement, BA was employed through CSX Railroad first as an engineer and eventually he transferred to management.

BA was known for being someone that helped anyone and everyone he could.

“You name it, he was a part of it” was extremely true for BA.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Connellsville, where for many years he would work the Keno game during the prior St. John’s Festivals. He was a member of the Connellsville Moose Lodge 16 and the Polish Club, both where he would call Bingo on numerous occasions. He was also a member of the Connellsville Slovak Club and the Sons of Italy #454. Also, if you wanted the best bridal dance, you got BA to get it going.

BA enjoyed socializing with his many friends and most importantly, spending time with his mom, being a proud ‘Mama’s Boy.’

BA is survived by his son, Robert A. Laugherty and wife Ashley of Pittsburgh; his mother, Mary Ellen (Hunt) of Connellsville; aunt, Joanne Allison of Connellsville and Anne Hunt of Connellsville; uncle, Bill Bowers of Connellsville; sister-in-law, Debbie Laugherty of Chino, CA; nieces, Kristy Fitzgerald of Chino, CA and Jacquie Kerns of Chino, CA and numerous cousins and beloved friends.

In addition to his father, BA was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Laugherty (2010).

In accordance with BA’s wishes, no viewing will be held.

A Memorial Mass at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church will be held on Saturday March 7, 2026 at 10am with Rev. Fr. Paul Lisik as Celebrant. Doors will be open at 9am for those who would like to pay their respects.

Private interment will be held in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.
