Robert Wayne (Porky) Porterfield

Robert Wayne (Porky) Porterfield, 80, of Connellsville Township, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 20, 2021  surrounded by his loving family at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

He was born December 7, 1940 in Connellsville, a son of the late Dyrl Ludwick and Margaret Marie (Miller) Porterfield.

Robert was Protestant by Faith. He graduated from Connellsville Area High School in 1958.

He retired from the Daily Courier after 43 years of service as a printer.

He was a member of the Connellsville Sportsman Association. He enjoyed shooting trap, hunting, fishing, going to the cabin in Elk County, PA, and spending time with his friends and family.

Robert will be remembered for his amazing and extraordinary personality that shined upon everyone he came into contact with.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Martha L. (Jennings) Porterfield; a daughter, Cindy (Nicklow) Wolfe of Connellsville; two sons, Michael A. Nicklow of Connellsville and Matthew R. Porterfield and wife Shelly J. (Shank) Porterfield of Bullskin Township; daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Heater) Nicklow; 13 grandchildren, Susan (Wolfe) Dugan and husband Kelly of Indian Head, Chad, Jeffrey, and Jennifer Wolfe who, all of Connellsville, Michael, Jeremy, and Jessica Nicklow, all of Connellsville; Miki, Nicole, and Lexi Porterfield, all of Bullskin Township, Erica (Nicklow) Barnhart and husband Eric of Flatwoods, Marcus and Ryan Nicklow of Connellsville; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-greatgrandchild; sister, Myrna (Porterfield) Hillen and husband Jeff of Bridgeport; sister-in-law, Sandra (Shipley) Porterfield of Bullskin Township and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Mark A. Nicklow and two brothers, Dyrl L. Porterfield, Jr. and James Porterfield.

Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Saturday from 2pm – 4pm and from 6pm – 8pm.

Additional visitation will be held on Sunday from 11am until the hour of the funeral service at 12:30pm with Pastor Lee Maley officiating.

Private interment will be held at Normalville Cemetery.
