Robert Omatick Obituary

Robert Anthony “Bob” “O” Omatick, 82, of South Connellsville, passed away on Monday July  15, 2024, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.

He was born June 13, 1942 in Connellsville, a son of the late Anthony Joseph and Helen Irene (Shal) Omatick.

He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in the Class of 1960 and he was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Connellsville and the South Connellsville Rod and Gun Club. He joined the United States Air Force at age 18 and was honorably discharged from his service.

For many years up until his retirement, Bob was employed through CSX as a Railroad Engineer driving trains.

Handyman was the word that immediately would come to mind when someone would think of Bob. He could fix anything and everything for anyone.

Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed going out to the greens to play a round with his family and friends. He also enjoyed spending his time gardening, canning vegetables, and making homemade soup.

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie (Ryan) Omatick; children, Daniel Joseph Omatick and wife Jane and Debra Lynn Byble and husband Nick; grandchildren, Lacey Bunting and husband Adam and Kyle David Gruening; step-grandson, Greg Ritenour; great-grandson, Ryker Bunting; family friend who was like a son to Bob, Kevin Keffer; sisters, Sylvia, Geraldine, and Betty Anne and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his infant son, Mark Allan Omatick; infant daughter, Marna Lynn Omatick; adult daughter, Krista Jill Omatick and his beloved bluetick hound, Shadow.
