Richard Hough Obituary

Richard “Rick” Scott Hough passed away peacefully at age 54 surrounded by his loving family on February 9th, 2023 at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC.

Born June 19, 1968 in Washington, PA, he was the oldest son of C. Richard Hough and Christine Caringola.
Rick was a 1986 graduate of Geibel Catholic High School. He furthered his education at St. Vincent College, graduating in 1990 with a BS in mathematics. From there, he went to the State University of New York where he earned his MS and PhD (ABD) in economics.

Rick was employed by the US Government, Census Bureau as Assistant Division Chief of the Public Sector for Cross Sector Statistics, Economic Wide Division since 1999.

He was a devoted member of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Solomons, Maryland, where he coached the school’s boys basketball team for the past 14 years, in addition to currently coaching for the Patuxent High School boys Junior Varsity basketball team.

Rick was a longtime University of Pittsburgh football season ticket holder, which he enjoyed attending with his uncles, sons, and close friends (H2P). He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. In his spare time, he loved to golf and go fishing.
Rick is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ann (Lukowsky) Hough of Lusby, MD; his four sons, Patrick J. Hough, Richard N. Hough, Luke M. Hough, and Samuel M. Hough, all of Lusby, MD; mother, Christine Caringola; father, C. Richard Hough of Connellsville; stepmother, Jeanne Hough of Connellsville; mother-in-law, Eileen Lukowsky of Ford City; brother, John Hough of Connellsville; sister, Tara Rose (James Rose) of Stevensville, MD; stepsister, Dawn Miller of Norwalk, CT; stepbrother, Doug Grant (Merry Pain) of Greenwich, CT; as well as numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hough; maternal grandparents, John and Laverne Caringola; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Sarah “Sally” Hough; father-in-law, John Lukowsky, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends will be received in the Paul G. Fink Funeral Home, Inc. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm and on Friday from 8:30am until 9:30am when Prayers of Transfer will be held. The funeral Mass will immediately follow in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville at 10am with Rev. Fr. Paul Lisik as Celebrant.

Interment will be held privately at a later date.
