Mary Jeanne Brooks

Mary Jeanne Brooks, 87, of Connellsville Twp., passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 18, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 21, 1937 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Sidow) Porter.

Mary was a retired LPN, having been employed through St. Augustine and Southwest General Hospitals in Ohio and at Connellsville State Hospital.

She loved to crochet and she was a great cook and throughout the years, she collected many recipes that she would make for her family.

Mary is survived by her husband of 42 years, Alfred D. Brooks; her daughter, Mary Bertok (Kevin); son, Thomas Basinger (Audrey); step-son, Lon Brooks; grandsons, Donald Basinger, David Basinger, and Thomas Basinger, Jr.; granddaughters, Jeanna Leichliter, Jennifer Wiltrout, Tonya Basinger, and Beth Basinger; step-grandson, Mason Cross; step-granddaughters, Caitlin DeLucia and Emily Sumerauer; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Tarr and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Donald Basinger; step-daughter, Jody Sumerauer; grandson, Justin Basinger, and brothers, Donald Porter, and Augie Porter.

Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Sunday from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm and on Monday from 9am until the hour of the Blessing Service at 11am with Rev. Fr. Paul Lisik as Celebrant.

Interment and Committal Service will follow at Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.
