Leland Arthur Williams, 92, of Connellsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Hillside Estates.
He was born January 29, 1932, in Martville, New York, a son of the late Arthur and Gladys (Webster) Williams.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged from his service. He was a member of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville, where he served as an usher for many years.
Lee held many different careers throughout his life. For almost 10 years, he was employed for Westinghouse working on the reactors. He also worked alongside and assisted Paul Fink at the Paul G. Fink Funeral Home, Inc. for many, many years, having assisted in bringing families loved ones into the funeral homes care, working visitation, and funerals.
The one job he was most dedicated and passionate about was being a firefighter. He was hired for the Connellsville Paid Fire Department on February 26, 1958. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in May of 1973 and the rank of Assistant Chief in March 16, 1979. He retired from the fire department on February 20, 1983. Lee was also a life member of the New Haven Hose Co., having joined as a volunteer on March 20, 1959. Lee would work Bingo every Thursday night at the New Haven Hose Co. firehall.
Lee loved traveling, hunting, metal detecting, fighting fires, and spending time with his family.
Lee was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Steindl) Williams; sister, Marlene Williams; brother, Gerald Williams; sisters-in-law, Aggie Williams, Jane Steindl, Elaine Steindl, and Katie Steindl; brothers-in-law, Bill, John, and Frank Steindl, Joseph Pitroski, Nevin Kuhns, and Bill Balgosky.
Lee is survived by his children, Gary Williams, Susan Whipkey (Steve), and Barbara Bucci (Nick), all of Connellsville; grandchildren, Meagan Zavada (Mike), Kelli Basinger (Dave), Nicole Petraglia (Tristan), Samantha Petrone (Derek), and Joshua Bucci (Brittany), all of Connellsville and Joseph Bucci (Laura) of McDonald; great-grandchildren, Bella, Payton and Deklan Petrone, Gabriella and Gianna Petraglia, Lainey and Easton Zavada, Hudson and Leo Bucci, Maci and Kinsey Basinger and Natalie and Gemma Bucci and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Sunday from 2pm – 8pm, with New Haven Hose Co. holding a memorial ritual at 7pm.
Additional visitation will be held on Monday from 8am until 9:15am, when the Amvets General George C. Marshall Post #103 will hold full Military Honors. Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9:30 am, and the funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10 am in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville with Rev. Fr. Paul Lisik as Celebrant.
Interment will be held privately at a later date in Green Ridge Memorial Park.

Lee’s family would also like to give a special thank you to Dr. Paul Means and Amedisys Hospice for their support, compassion, and care of Lee; to Hillside Estates for their care of Lee while he was there, and to his roommate, Mr. James Lynn, for looking out for him these last few months.
