Larry J. Mayros, 78, of Dunbar Twp., passed away on Monday May 12, 2025 at Penn Highlands Hospital with his beloved wife and daughter by his side.
He was born March 14, 1947 in Connellsville, a son of the late John and Sophia (Mazurik) Mayros.
Larry was a graduate of Dunbar Township High School in the Class of 1965 and he was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Connellsville, having served as an Usher for many years. Once he graduated, he began working for Fisher Body Automobile Manufacturing Company in Michigan until he was drafted into the Vietnam War. He proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the War from 1967 until 1968 when he was honorably discharged. Larry’s service was something he cherished and was extremely proud of.
When he returned from the War, he was employed at the US Steel Irvin Works for several years and then he moved on and became employed for Rack Engineering as a press brake engineer for 25 years. He also served the Dunbar Twp. Community and was elected as the Dunbar Township Supervisor, which he served as until his retirement.
Larry was a member of the Slovak Club, serving as the clubs’ President for many years and he was a member of their golf league. He also was a member of the Teamsters, the AMVETS, and the VFW Post 21.
Larry was someone who was known to be involved in anything and everything and he also knew just about anyone and everyone. He enjoyed golfing, going to sporting events and spending time with his grandchildren, Jimmy, Anthony, Anna, and Jordan, who were absolutely everything to him.
Larry will be fondly remembered and lovingly missed by so many who loved and knew him.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathleen M. (Bukovac) Mayros of Dunbar Twp.; his daughter, Lorri DeMarco and husband James Jr. of Dunbar Twp,; his grandchildren, Jimmy and Anna of Dunbar Twp., Anthony and companion Victoria of CA, and Jordan of Florida; brother, James Mayros of Goldsboro, NC; sister, Kathy Holup of Connellsville; brother-in-law, Sam DeBellis of Pittsburgh; his grandpuppies, Juju and Heath and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Larry J. Mayros Jr. in 1991; his sister, Donna Jean DeBellis; sister-in-law, Charlesey Rae Mayros and brother-in-law, Steve Holup.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Thursday from 2pm – 8pm and on Friday from 8am until 9:30am when Prayers of Transfer will be held. The Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10am in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Connellsville with Fr. John Torres as Celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow at St. John R.C. Cemetery, Connellsville with the Amvets General George C. Marshall Post #103 presenting full Military Honors.
