Justin William ‘Jud’ Garrity, 41, of Dunbar Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 24, 2025 at his home.
He was born September 1, 1983 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Mary Catherine (Striner) and the late William Joseph Garrity.
Jud was a skilled outdoorsman. He enjoyed hiking, camping, and whitewater rafting with his family in the Laurel Highlands and biking the Youghiogheny Trail with his wife and kids. He was an avid hunter of deer, turkey, and bear. He loved to fish the Yough, and he took great pride in teaching his kids to fish.
After graduating from CUPA with a BS in Education, he traveled to Thailand where he became certified in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL).
He enjoyed many adventures fishing the Mekong River while teaching in Thailand where he eventually met his wife, Sirigun. He served as a public-school teacher for several years on the Pacific Island of Saipan, CNMI, where his first child, Wilson, was born. He later returned to Fayette County where he served families through the Head Start program while his own family grew to include Sophia and Wyatt. He was intelligent, kind, and adventurous. But above all, he loved his three beautiful kids.
Jud is survived by his wife, Sirigun (Boonmeeprasert) Garrity at home; his beautiful children, Wilson William Garrity, Sophia Catherine Garrity, and Wyatt William Garrity at home; mother, Mary Catherine Garrity of Connellsville; sister, Barbara F. Garrity of Greeley, CO and nieces, Novalynn and Scarlett Adams-Garrity, both of Greeley, CO.
In addition to his father, Jud was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Catherine F. Striner.
A Memorial Service for Justin will be held at the Pennsville Baptist Church on Saturday May 31st at 10am with Dr. Terry V. Murray officiating.
Interment will be privately held.
