John Thomas (J.T.) Grubbs

John Thomas “J.T.” Grubbs, 91, of Connellsville, passed away on Wednesday October 27, 2021 at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.

He was born September 18, 1930 in Uniontown, a son of the late Lloyd R. and Birdie Ethel (Thomas) Grubbs.

J.T. was a graduate from Dunbar Township High School and he was a member of the Central Fellowship Church, Connellsville.      

J.T. proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

For over 35 years, J.T. was a taxi driver for Connellsville Taxi, which he was most known for.

One of J.T.’s favorite things to do was to go see the Old Time Fiddler’s with his companion Carol Whetsel where he enjoyed listening to the many different songs they would play.

J.T. is survived by his sons, Thomas Grubbs and wife, Mischelle of Pittsburgh, Terry Grubbs of South Connellsville, Dale Grubbs and wife Corinna of Connellsville, Mark Grubbs and wife Sherry of Connellsville, and Eric Grubbs and wife Patty of South Connellsville; daughter, Carolyn Owade and husband Greg of Connellsville; 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Grubbs of Uniontown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, J.T. was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Ruth (Johnson) Grubbs in 2011; daughter, Gloria Faye Grubbs; great-grandsons, Gunner Alan Kelley and Levi John Kelley; siblings, Austin, James, Lloyd, and Betty and his companion, Carol Whetsel.

Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Friday from 2pm -8pm and on Saturday from 9am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Michael Martin officiating.

Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Presbyterian Cemetery and full military honors will be held by the General George C. Marshall Post #103.
