James R. ("Rick") Kinneer

James Richard “Rick” Kinneer, 77, of Somerset, PA, passed away peacefully at his home. He was born on July 30, 1947, in Connellsville, PA, the son of the late James William and Margaret Louise Kinneer. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Shirley Kinneer, and his brother Oren. Rick was a devoted husband to Shirley, a loving brother to Oren Kinneer and his wife Carole, and a proud uncle to their daughters, Rebecca and Kimberly. He was a dedicated father to his daughter Melissa Brenchak and her husband Spurgeon, and to his son Timothy J. Kinneer and his wife Victoria. He was a cherished grandfather to Karly Brenchak and Beth Spengler and her husband Luke, and a great-grandfather to Josie and Jasper Spengler.

Rick grew up in Dawson, PA, where his family’s legacy was rooted and lifelong friendships were formed, friendships he carried with him throughout his life. He was a man of unwavering faith who dedicated his life to teaching others about God and helping those in need. After moving to Somerset, PA, Rick found joy in his family, deepened his friendships, and continued his lifelong mission of service.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with friends. He worked for decades as a truck driver, but his true focus was his faith. As an elder at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Rick spent his life in ministry, touching the lives of many with his kindness and devotion.

Known affectionately as “the first responder,” Rick was always ready to help—volunteering his time and energy to serve others. He was deeply loved by his oldest and newest friends alike and will be forever cherished by his family.

No visitation will be held.

The Memorial Service for Rick will be held on Sunday May 25, 2025 at 2pm at the Somerset Kingdom Hall – 1102 S. Franklin Ave. Somerset, PA 15501. There will be Zoom available for those who cannot physically attend – Please contact Timothy or Melissa for the code.
