Gracie Moscalink, beloved cat of Bethany, Michelle, and Charlie, passed peacefully over the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by love on Friday December 22, 2023.
Gracie showed up at our house in 2018 on death's doorstep; abused, neglected, malnourished, and afraid of all humans. Who could blame her for that fear?
She always was fearful of humans; you could see the fear when we would go to pet her, and she would cringe as if she was afraid she was going to be hurt. Oh, how we wish karma comes to the person or people that hurt her prior to her coming to us.
After we got her fixed up, she had many security pillows and blankets, that should would bounce to throughout the kitchen and living room where she felt comfortable. Our other cats knew to never try to take those from her.
We never wanted to push her and thought she would warm up when she was ready to, or if she didn't, that was okay too.
Then she slowly began to stay around us and would enjoy being petted. Then the purrs came.
It took until the end of 2022 and into 2023 for Gracie to finally become a lap-cat, nudging herself into our personal space, which we gladly accepted, as she purred away. When visitors came, she gladly greeted them with a chirp of excitement as she waited to be pet. The same as when we would come through the door, whether we were returning from work, or out to eat, or shopping.
She had the absolute best personality that shined through. She had the most beautiful white and black fur and her signature 'milk-mustache' which everyone loved.
Though Gracie's life was something horrible we couldn't even begin to image before coming to our family, the moment we took her into our lives, she knew what love was until the very end. And she showed that love back.
We spoiled her rotten and she always wore something blingy (just like Bethany). She deserved all the treats, all the bling, all the love.
We wish we could have had more time with her, but knew we couldn't let her suffer. She never deserved the cancer that was found after what she had already been through. But you never would have been able to tell she was sick and the vets didn't know how she was eating, drinking and not acting in pain.
Their thoughts and our thoughts were she knew what real pain was before coming to us and what she was going through was nothing compared to her life before us.
She truly was an amazing Grace.
We would like to give a special thanks to Camelot-Dr. Sheperd, Kelly, and Amy for all their love and compassion towards Gracie and us and being there beside us as Gracie passed. You all did everything you could, and we knew and Gracie knew.
To Duck Hollow Animal Hospital - Dr. Tummons and his Ultrasound-Tech for getting Gracie in immediately so we could get a better visual on what was happening. Gracie was so comfortable around both of you and you could feel the love and care towards her.
And to everyone who supported all of us and donated to help Gracie. Your kindness and love shined through to us and made all of this more bearable.
Gracie's cremation services have been entrusted to the Paul G. Fink Funeral Home, Inc. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 and Gracie's cremated remains will go home to be with her family in the most blingy urn that she deserves.
