Douglas Katona Obituary

Douglas Stephen Katona, 64, of Connellsville, passed away on Wednesday January 7, 2026, at his home after his battle with cancer.
He was born October 3, 1961, in Connellsville, a son of the late Stephen and Patricia (Shallenberger) Katona.
He proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corps. until his honorable discharge. Throughout his life, he was employed as a sheet metal worker.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 301, where he enjoyed spending time with his many friends.
He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh sports teams, including the Steelers and the Penguins.
Douglas is survived by his children, Aaron Katona and Michelle Swickey; grandchildren, Cameron Wills. Della Hiles, and Thomas Hiles; siblings, David Katona, Dianna Igims, and Dennis Katona and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly (Miller) Katona; grandson, Thomas Hiles, Jr. and sister, Denise Katona.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Saturday from 11am until 1pm. At 1pm full Military Honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 21 and the American Legion Posts 301 & 762, followed by a service honoring Douglas' life with his friend, Howard Metzger, officiating.
Interment will be private.

Doug’s family would like to thank the Stacie & Howard Metzger family, as well as Melissa Means for dedicated support and care of Doug during his journey with cancer. His Family would also like to thank the staff at UPMC Hilman Cancer Center and the nurses at Amedisys Hospice for their care of Doug.
