Debra Marie Cossette, 59, of Uniontown, passed away on Thursday February 5, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown due to the results of a motor vehicle accident. As she transitioned peacefully from this life to the next, she was surrounded by her family, who made sure she was comfortable and cared for, even after her death – from cleaning her, to dressing her in her favorite leopard pajamas, painting her nails, and braiding her hair.
She was born February 26, 1966, in Santa Clara, California, a daughter of the late Lorne Franklin and Lavonna Lee (Johnson) Cossette.
She was a jane-of-all-trades, having worked numerous places with different types of jobs – from sales and customer service, housekeeping to construction, and most recently, she was employed for multiple years as a gas station manager for Exxon Gas Station, Uniontown.
Debi was known to have her own specific ways of seeing things. Her favorite color was plaid—not a single shade, not something simple, but a mix of patterns and layers that somehow fit together anyway. She loved stories too, especially any Janet Evanovich book she could get her hands on. If there was one nearby, she read it. Those books brought her comfort, laughter, and a familiar rhythm, and she held onto them the way she held onto the things that made her feel like herself. She was a self-proclaimed (and honestly known) crazy cat lady, having cared for and brought many cats into her home to care for and love throughout the years.
She loved her children deeply. And she loved her grandchildren even more—if that was somehow possible. Her love for them was undeniable, fierce in its own way, and constant. It showed up in how she talked about them, how proud she was, how much space they occupied in her heart.
Debi will be forever missed and always loved by her family and her friends.
Debi is survived by her children, Ashley Ogilvie of Dunbar and Cody Barnhart of Uniontown; grandbabies, Lyrik, Coraline, and King; nieces and nephews, Brandon, Julieann and husband Bruce, Izzie, Benny, Emory, and Brittney and several of her beloved furbabies.
In addition to her parents, Debi was preceded in death by her sisters, Randi Cossette and Chris Cossette.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and supervision of the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425.
In accordance with Debi’s wishes, no viewing or services will be held – as she stated, ‘If they couldn’t make time to see me while I was alive, they most certainly will not be seeing me after I’m gone.’
