Darlene Shaw Obituary

Darlene Mae Shaw, 88, of Connellsville, passed away on Sunday June 26, 2022 in Excela Westmoreland Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born Darlene Mae Wandel, daughter of the late Harold H. and Gladys H. (Rupauch) Wandel, in Connellsville on December 19, 1933.

Darlene graduated from Connellsville High School in the Class of 1951. She married the love of her life, the late Joseph F. Shaw, on June 30, 1951.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She worked during her married life as a Tupperware regional supervisor, school cafeteria worker and nurse's aid. 

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church of Connellsville, was a 50 year member and Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of several local card clubs, a member of the Wally Brian Airstream Club and was past Grand Guardian of the International Order of Job's Daughters. Darlene loved to travel in their Airstream with family and friends. She was an avid fan of Disney World and the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing cards with her girlfriends, crafting, going to the casinos and family gatherings. 

Darlene was a friend to all she met, loved all, and was loved by many.

She never missed sending cards on Christmas, birthdays, and anniversaries.

 She is survived by her children, C. Kim Petko and husband Joseph of Connellsville, PA, Joseph H. Shaw and wife Ruth of Hagerstown, MD, Gretchen L. Schulz and wife Dr. Geralyn of Silver Springs, MD and Lori J. Henry and husband Edward of Normalville, PA;  grandchildren, Jill DeWitt and husband Roy III, Melissa Schilling and husband Chad, Jeffrey Stewart and companion Alicia Saylor, Adam Burgin and fiance Ashley Farley, Edward Henry Jr. and fiancee Sydney Porterfield and Leah Mae Henry;  great grandchildren, Chandler DeWitt, Chaney DeWitt, Adelore Schilling, Avalee Farley and Alexander Burgin;  sister, Joy Sampey and husband Lee and many nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Shaw; her sisters, Dolores J. Strawn and Kathryn A. Ansell.

Family and friends will be received and the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Wednesday from 2pm - 8pm with the Eastern Star holding a memorial ritual at 7pm. On Thursday, visitation will be held from 10 until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Janice Altenburger officating.

Interment will be held privately in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.

Memorial donations may be made in Darlene's memory to the Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, Connellsville - 126 E. Fairview Avenue Connellsville, PA 15425.
