Daniel ‘Dan’ Carnack, Sr., 78, of Monarch, PA, passed away Saturday April 2, 2022 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dan was born July 28, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, a son to the late Joseph and Harriet (Dawson) Carnack.
He spent many years in construction, where he was an expert carpenter, skills he used throughout his life helping and teaching others. He also worked at Rock Engineering in Connellsville, PA, and as a janitor for the Connellsville Area School District.
Dan was a former member of the Slovak Club, the Polish Club, and a current member of the Eagles.
He will be remembered for his ability to fix anything, for sharing the bounty of his garden with family and neighbors, his love of Elvis, the Steelers, horses and all things western, for always having a “backup” for EVERYTHING, playing his loud music at “Dan’s Bar & Grill”, and for his Harley trike that he barely got to ride. He is surely riding around on it in Heaven right now.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Carnack; mother, Harriet Dawson-Shrader; wife, Frances Carnack; sister, Rosemary Akers, and “parents”, Harry and Hilda Pegg.
He is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Joyce Gales of Connellsville; his son, Dan Carnack, Jr. and his husband Jared Nicklow of Connellsville; sisters, Joanne Peshko of Monarch, Jane Cardaman of Uniontown and Florrendia Shrader of Monarch.
His son Dan and Jared would like to offer a special thank you to Joyce for her dedication in caring for her “Cowboy” as he fought his fight.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Tuesday from 2pm – 4pm and from 6pm – 8pm and on Wednesday from 9am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Rev. Trista Lucas officiating.
Interment will follow at Normalville Cemetery, Normalville.
