Corey Raymond Jones, 15, of Florida, originally of Connellsville, passed away suddenly on Saturday January 22, 2022. He was born October 17, 2006, weighing 7 lbs. and 12 ounces, to the proud mother, Mary Housel.
Corey was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and grew up in Connellsville, Pennsylvania until the age of 8 when the family moved to Florida.
Mary Housel is a mother that is beyond heartbroken, Corey respected his mom and knew that Mary would go to the ends of the world to protect him. You could see the love in his eyes and the admiration he had for her. Always ending every phone call with “I Love You Mom”.
Corey loved his Pap (Grandpa) Kenneth Housel Sr. and his grandma Carolyn Willard. His Pap and grandma helped raise him from a child and Corey Adored being around them.
Corey was so lucky to have had the privilege of John Keedy becoming his stepfather and accepting Corey as his own. John helped mold Corey into the manly man that Corey was turning out to be. John was the first person on the scene that tragic day and thank god Corey had the comfort of a familiar loving face and the embrace of John while waiting for help to arrive.
Corey was also fortunate to have had another father/best friend in Stephen Klosterman for the last 3 years of his life. Someone to help keep him out of trouble and always finding new adventures together. Corey was the happiest when with Stephen. The two of them spent almost every day together and Stephen also handled addressing the issues with the school administration when needed.
Corey also had an uncle that was a big part of his life, Kenneth Housel Jr. The two of them had a bond that was inseparable, more often with the two of them playing sports and wrestling. A great teacher in self-defense. A strong man who loved Corey unconditionally and has been heartbroken since Corey passed away.
Corey was a big brother to Colby, Alexis and Cameron and like all siblings, they got along at times and fought at times the way all siblings do, but Corey would never let anyone harm them.
He stepped up to be a man and protected them. Corey also had an older brother, Samuel and an older sister, Cheyenne.
This young man had a smile that would light up a room, his laugh was so contagious, once he started laughing you were sure to join in. He was a ladies man, the girls just couldn’t get enough him and he knew how to smooth talk them.
His hobbies included: Basketball, Football, 4 Wheeling, Boating, Riding Segway’s and Scooters. Stephen was teaching him to drive and Corey was so excited about driving. He loved boxing and MMA Fighting. Corey was especially fond of animals, always trying to bring something home, he enjoyed horseback riding. He was a great story teller too. Corey loved to shop and always wanted the coolest new haircuts and clothes/shoes.
Corey was currently in his freshman year at Jones High School. He recently signed up for ROTC to begin next semester and signed up for the Football Team.
His goals were to join the military and work in emergency services. He also wanted a big family of his own.
As the Mother, Father, Stepfather, PAP, Uncle and all Family Members, we want everyone to know that Corey touched everyone in his own special way and he made a change to everyone he met. Please keep his memories alive. Share stories, share videos, share pictures and share prayers as the family can use all the support they can get during this most difficult time.
