Bernard J. “Coco” Farris, Jr. , 71, of Dunbar, passed away on Sunday July 14, 2024 at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
He was born January 22, 1953 in Connellsville, a son of the late Bernard J. Farris Sr. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Langor) Farris.
He graduated from Connellsville High School in the Class of 1970 and he was a longtime member of the St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Connellsville.
For 40 years until his retirement, he was employed through Anchor Hocking as a line mechanic and he also served as the Union Local 188 President for 17 years.
Bernie was an avid hunter and hunted both deer and bear.
He enjoyed sports, especially when he would watch the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pirates and he enjoyed working out at the local gym. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to their many different sporting events.
Bernie is survived by his children, Jacqueline Gnibus and husband, Colin of Mt. Pleasant, Jennifer Thomas and husband, Timothy of Dunbar and Matthew Farris and wife, Heather of Dunbar; grandchildren, Ava, Hannah, Noah, Savannah, Logan, Aaron, and Dalton and his wife Cayla; siblings, Debbie Schradel and husband, Bill of Dunbar, Mike Farris and wife, Linda of Lemont Furnace and Joey (Bull) Farris and wife, Anita of Connellsville and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Wednesday from 6pm – 8pm, Thursday from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm and on Friday from 11am until 12pm, when Prayers of Transfer will be held. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Connellsville at 12:30pm.
Interment and Committal services will follow at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Cemetery, Connellsville.
