Anthony Carbonara Obituary

Anthony J. “Tony” Carbonara, 95, of South Connellsville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at his home.

He was born February 11, 1926 at home on 12th street in Connellsville, a son of the late Frank and Caroline (Saverese) Carbonara.

Tony proudly served in the United States Army in WWII with the rank of PFC as a combat engineer for Company A 1269.

Once returning from the War, he was employed through West Penn Power for many years until his retirement in 1988. Tony had his own home improvement and insulating businesses for numerous years after he had retired from West Penn Power.

Tony was a lifelong member of St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville.

He was a member of the Italian Independent Club, Sons of Italy, St. Rita’s Holy Name, and the Knights of Columbus.

He loved planting and working in his garden, and most importantly he loved to help others and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and he will be missed greatly by his family.

Tony is survived by his beloved children, Donald Carbonara (Judy Schroyer) of Connellsville, Marion Marty (John) of Sarver, PA, and Barbara Carbonara (Kelly McClung) of New Albany, OH; grandchildren who affectionately knew him by “Pap” or “Pappy”, Alyssa Muto (Patrick), Gabrielle Carbonara, John Marty III (Colleen Boyle) and Christine Marty Kotecki (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Alexander, Everett, and Gabriel; step-grandchildren, Eian McClung and Trish McClung; siblings, Carmie Porter (Dave) and Louise Mecco.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Beard) Carbonara on December 14, 2005; sons, Joseph Carbonara and Thomas Carbonara; granddaughter, Christina Carbonara; sisters, Josephine Riordan, Marie Pavlosky, Viola Bartock, and Catherine Quinn; brothers, Alfred Carbonara, Eugene Carbonara, Donald Carbonara, and Richard “Crow” Carbonara and brothers-in-law, Sidney Riordan, Teddy Pavlosky, Joseph Bartock, Leonard Mecco, and James “Jimmy” Quinn.

Tony’s family want to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Twin Oaks and their caregivers, Haley, Lisa, Tiffany, and Sadie, caregivers, Billie, Rose, Jenn, Ica, and Theresa and Amedisys Hospice and their caregivers, Cathy, Angie, Jodi, Brooke, Veronica, Leslie, and Susan for their compassion towards and care of Tony; Fr. Julius Capongpongan for always stopping by with a smile on his face, praying with Tony and being there during this difficult time;Tony’s neighbors, Beth, Tim and Matthew Sanner and Bill Ricks for always stopping by and keeping an eye on Tony and Donnie's girlfriend, Judy Schroyer for being a wonderful caregiver for Tony.

Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Friday from 2pm – 4pm and 6pm – 8pm and on Saturday from 8:30am until 9:30am when Prayers of Transfer will be held.

A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at St. Rita R.C. Church, Connellsville at 10am with Fr. Julius Capongpongan as Celebrant.

Committal will follow at St. Rita R.C. Cemetery, Connellsville with Military Rites accorded by the VFW Post 21 and the American Legion Posts 301 and 762.

The family requests that if you have not been fully vaccinated for Covid-19 to please wear a mask, and if you have been vaccinated you do not have to wear one.
