Andrea Gretchen (Greenawalt) McFadden, 49, of Connellsville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday December 13, 2025, at her home.
She was born on August 23, 1976, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Keith Alan and Linda Jane (Hatcher) Greenawalt.
She was baptized August 29, 2021, and she had a very close relationship with God.
Gretchen graduated from Connellsville High School and continued to Penn State Fayette where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in 2000 as a registered nurse. She loved her career and excelled at what she did, even being awarded by Jefferson Hospital for her life saving measures. Her fellow nurses say she was full of wisdom, kindness, and knowledge.
Gretchen was an amazing, strong nurse but she was an even better mom and grandma. She lived her life fully devoted to her children and grandchildren, who were her entire world. She loved to talk about anything and everything with her daughter, whom she lovingly referred to as her confidant, teammate, ally, and best friend. She loved to laugh with her son, whom she also referred to as one of her best friends. She enjoyed having a cigarette and beer on the porch with her son-in-law, but most of all, she loved being with her grandbaby, Sawyer, who was her world. She was the best grandma to him and their bond was so strong and it will last an eternity. Sawyer was so incredibly special to her.
She spent her free time at Ohiopyle, Turtle Rock, floating the Yough, shopping, or crafting at home. She loved to vacation in OBX and Tennessee with her family. She loved to dance and sing with her best friend, Lorrie Leyda.
Gretchen had a heart of pure gold and was always able to find the good in people, even if there was none to find. To know Andrea was to love her and she will be forever loved and deeply missed by all those who had the blessing of knowing and loving Andrea.
Gretchen is survived by her daughter, Taylor McFadden (Ted Smith) of Connellsville; son, Brian McFadden of Connellsville; her pride and joy, her grandson, Sawyer of Connellsville; brothers, Chuck Hooper and wife, Tammy Hooper of Yukon, Robert Hooper of Mt. Pleasant and her nephews, Derek Hooper of Yukon, Dillon Hooper of Connellsville, and Robert Hooper of Mt. Pleasant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and her nephew, Richard Hooper.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Saturday from 1pm until the hour of the funeral service at 7pm with Pastor Rick Fox officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date in Greenlick Cemetery.
