Amos Wayne Hurt, 74, of Connellsville, passed away on Sunday November 17, 2024 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born March 30, 1950 in Madison, VA, a son of the late Amos William and Elma (Keyes) Hurt.
He was drafted in 1967 into the Marine Corps, having proudly served in the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged.
For most of his life, Amos was employed in construction, having worked at multiple different companies, most recently, Springer Construction.
He was known as a simple man, who enjoyed the simple things in life.
Amos was known as an avid hunter and fisherman, always spending time in the outdoors hoping to bag his next buck.
He also loved to dance and play pool.
Amos is survived by his children, Amos “Clyde” Hurt (Linda) of Normalville, Tammy Riley (Jason) of Romney W.V., Timothy Hurt (Beth) of Romney W.V., Wayne Ohler (Charlene) of Leisenring, Christina Dillinger of Mt. Pleasant, Brandie Shroyer of Mt. Pleasant, Belinda Croushore of Connellsville and Vanessa Gemas (Joey) of Scottdale; stepchildren, Tonya Gemas, Johnny Gemas, and Samuel Gemas; partner, Effie Mae Aller; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Amos was preceded in death by his son, William Allen Ohler.
Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Sunday from 2pm until the hour of the funeral service at 7pm with Pastor Lee Maley officiating.
Interment will be private.
